The Association was created by a group of friends, in 1954 in a restaurant on Wickham Terrace and took at first the name of "Cercle Français" (French Circle).

With the number of members quickly increasing it officially becomes the "French Australian Association of Queensland Inc" in 1957 and a constitution is developed.

The first "Gazette" appears in March 1970. This is a periodic newsletter announcing amongst other things: next functions, the new members and some news that can interest the Francophone and Francophile Community of Brisbane and surrounding areas.

Their presentations will evolve depending of the one who is writing it.

Thanks to the evolution of the technology, the Gazette is now sent by email to most of the members but it remains the best links between the association and its members and a link with the other associations.

The Gazette is now edited in an electronic version.
